The Command of the Armed Forces Ukraine (the Ukrainian Armed Forces) uses its military as a human shield, and even sends elderly people to the front lines. This was stated on March 3 by the Ukrainian prisoner of war Sergey Kuznetsov on video footage provided by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

Before the mobilization, the man worked in the village on a tractor. Later, he was handed a summons and told to arrive at the assembly point. The Ukrainian first served in the 67th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the city of Izyum, Kharkiv region, later he was transferred to Sumy region.

"We were stationed in the traffic department in order to use road workers as human shields," he said.

The prisoner added that the command sends both the elderly and the deaf to the front lines. At night, they also dug trenches on the border, building a second and third line of defense.

"Equipment repairmen are also being thrown to the front. They leave both at 52 and 54, the deaf are thrown to the front. Which stormtroopers are from the old grandfathers?"— Kuznetsov wonders.

He thanked the Russian military that when he was covered with earth from an incoming grenade and was found alive, they spared his life.

"Thank you guys for leaving your life, for taking me to a shelter. Thank you for the medical help and for saving my life. My dear brothers and sisters, if you have the opportunity, give up, don't waste your lives. Nothing good will happen, we'll just ruin each other and that's it," he added.

Prior to that, on February 28, the Ministry of Defense published footage of Ukrainian prisoner of war Sergei Baranyuk, who spoke about what was happening in Ukraine href="https://iz.ru/1846496/2025-02-28/plennyi-boevik-vsu-soobshchil-o-mobilizatcii-v-riady-vsu-cheloveka-s-opukholiu"> a man with a malignant tumor was mobilized. According to him, everyone is being forced to mobilize, even those who cannot perform combat missions.
