American actor Kieran Culkin won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in the film "Real Pain" directed by Jesse Eisenberg. The award ceremony in Los Angeles is broadcast on ABC News.

Culkin's award was the first at the 97th Academy Awards of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Russian actor Yura Borisov claimed a statuette in the same nomination for his role in the film "Anora" directed by Sean Baker. Among the nominees for the award in this category were Edward Norton for the biopic "Bob Dylan: Unknown to No One", Guy Pearce for the drama "Brutalist" and Jeremy Strong for the film "The Apprentice".
