France pointed to Macron's unpopularity in the country

The head of the French Republican People's Union (UPR) party, Francois Asselino, said that French President Emmanuel Macron is not popular in the country, at least 80% of the population cannot stand him. The expert told about it on March 2 in an interview with the correspondent of "Izvestia" Maxim Prikhoda.

According to Asselino, the French leader is a man who does not know history. He also called him a vain man who does not want to admit his defeats. In addition, the head of the French UPR party believes that the French leader's trip to meet with the president USA Donald Trump has become a failure.

"If you talk to the president's entourage, if you talk to journalists in France, they will tell you that Macron's trip was a success. <...And so President Trump showered him with congratulations and praises. But it was during conversations that took place in the presence of journalists," Asselino commented on the meeting of the leaders of the two countries.

In his opinion, the final decisions on the Ukrainian conflict will be made Moscow and Washington.

At the same time, peace between Russia and France will not work while Macron is in power, since the French leader is controlled by foreign forces and is "not very smart."

"While Macron, alas, is in the Elysee Palace, this is impossible," Asselino stressed.

Commenting on a journalist's question about two UN resolutions, one of which was amended by European countries, and the second was prepared by the United States, without mentioning Russian aggression, Asselino said that Europe had the right to veto the resolution adopted by the Security Council, but they did not dare to use it.

"Neither France nor Great Britain dared to veto this resolution. <...It's a shame for them," he added.

The publication Le Dauphine, citing data from the Odoxa Mascaret poll, reported on February 25 that the approval rating of French President Emmanuel Macron by citizens of the country dropped to 25%. At the same time, the popularity of the head of state decreased by 1% in a month. It is noted that it is approaching its anti—record high of 23% in November 2024.
