16 wildfires have been recorded in Primorsky Krai, eight of which are active. This was announced on March 2 in the press service of the regional Ministry for Civil Defense, Protection from Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters.

"16 fires have been registered in Primorye, eight of them are active. 129 people are involved in their liquidation," the Telegram channel said.

Izvestia correspondent Yevgeny Podtergera clarified that one of the fires in the Nakhodka city district surrounded a residential neighborhood.

"Dozens of hectares of forests and fields in the Nakhodka city district are already on fire. A ring of fire is shrinking around one of the residential neighborhoods," the journalist noted.

According to him, rescuers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are working on the spot, trying to prevent the spread of fire to houses. Podtergera added that it is almost impossible to stay in the epicenter of the fire for a long time.

"After a few minutes, my throat is constricted by the acrid smoke. I can't breathe, my head starts spinning," the correspondent clarified.

On February 27, the government of Primorsky Krai announced that over the past day the area wildfires in the region exceeded 1.3 thousand hectares. It is specified that 10 fires were recorded in different areas. All fires were extinguished. On February 26, it was reported that over the past day in Primorsky Krai 10 natural fires were registered, eight of which were extinguished. 14 municipalities in the region have a special fire protection mode, six have been put on high alert.
