The assassination attempt on Metropolitan Tikhon (Shevkunov) of Simferopol and Crimea, which was prevented on February 28, is not the first since the beginning of the special military operation. This was announced to Izvestia on March 2 by Archpriest Vladimir Vigilyansky, a close friend of the metropolitan, a publicist and literary critic.

According to him, attempts were made on the metropolitan's life several times, for example, once they tried to poison him.

"I know about the poisoning attempt, because there were such confessions of arrested saboteurs in Crimea. We are dealing with a terrorist state, and terror against certain people is a natural state for them," said Vigilyansky.

As the archpriest emphasized, in the West, attempts to assassinate leaders of public opinion by representatives of Ukraine do not cause outrage. Moreover, EU countries continue to add church leaders to the sanctions lists, thereby practically pointing out the addressees of the terrorist attacks to Kiev.

The Final Program with Pyotr Marchenko will tell you more about the prevention of the murder of Metropolitan Tikhon by the Ukrainian special services on March 2 at 23:00 on the REN TV channel.

On Friday, February 28, employees of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia prevented a terrorist attack, which was prepared by the Main intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense Ukraine (GUR MOU).

It was reported that two men planned to detonate a bomb at the Sretensky Monastery in the center Moscow with the aim of killing Metropolitan Tikhon. The suspects have been detained and a criminal case has been opened.
