France and Britain are making senseless demands on Russia because they want to disrupt the agreements on Ukraine. This was announced on March 2 by Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov.

According to him, French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer have one goal, namely to disrupt the real agreement on Ukraine.

"Macron and Starmer's peace plan is planned as the antithesis of a possible agreement between Moscow and Washington on Ukraine. The parameters of this antithesis are already clear: it will be a set of meaningless and impracticable demands on Russia in the spirit of the already well—known statements by Paris, London and Brussels," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Earlier in the day, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that London and Paris would work together href="https://iz.ru/1847507/2025-03-02/britania-i-francia-predstavat-ssa-plan-po-uregulirovaniu-konflikta-na-ukraine " target="_blank">work on his own plan for the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. Then, according to him, they are going to present a ready-made plan USA.

On the same day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced that The United States speaks directly about the desire to end the conflict in Ukraine, but Europe demands "continuation of the banquet". He stressed that discussions in Europe about peacekeepers for Kiev are arrogance, a continuation of Kiev's incitement against Russia.

At the same time, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the policy of French President Emmanuel Macron, said that Paris was taking a position in favor of href="https://iz.ru/1847458/2025-03-02/peskov-zaiavil-o-pozitcii-frantcii-v-polzu-prodolzheniia-konflikta-na-ukraine"> continuation of the conflict in Ukraine by all means.

Prior to that, on February 24, the American President Donald Trump announced the progress in href="https://iz.ru/1844498/2025-02-24/tramp-ukazal-na-progress-v-peregovorakh-s-rossiei-po-ukraine"> the negotiation process between Moscow and Washington on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. According to him, the negotiations are going "very well."
