In India, eight people died after an avalanche


Eight people died after an avalanche near the city of Badrinath in Uttarakhand state in India. This was reported on March 2 by the newspaper The Times of India.
It is specified that the avalanche descended on Friday, February 28, on the temporary camp of the Border Roads Organization (BRO) workers. The search work lasted two days. According to the newspaper, the rescue operation was interrupted several times due to extreme weather conditions.
"The body of an eighth worker who went missing in an avalanche incident in the village of Mana (Chamoli) has been found. <...All 54 people were rescued," the publication noted.
In April last year, it was reported that in Austria, after an avalanche two skiers were killed and two more were injured. According to rescuers, the avalanche was 180 m long and 80 m wide.
