New case of Ebola death reported in Uganda


The second case of death from Ebola was recorded in Uganda. This was announced on March 1 by the World Health Organization (WHO) with reference to the Ministry of Health of Uganda.
"Following the announcement of the Ebola outbreak on January 30, 2025, the Ministry of Health reports another confirmed case at the Mulago Hospital in a four—and-a-half-year-old child who tragically died on February 25," the WHO said in a statement on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
It is noted that WHO is working with the Ugandan Ministry of Health and partners to strengthen epidemiological surveillance and maintain control measures to contain the spread of the virus and stop the outbreak.
Earlier, on January 30, it became known that in Uganda it was confirmed href="https://iz.ru/1831046/2025-01-30/v-stolitce-ugandy-vyiavlen-novyi-sluchai-zabolevaniia-likhoradkoi-ebola"> the outbreak of the disease caused by the Ebola virus. One of the first patients was a nurse at a metropolitan hospital who sought medical help after experiencing fever-like symptoms. On Thursday, January 30th, she passed away. An autopsy confirmed the presence of ebolavirus Sudan (SUDV).
Later, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced that the organization had launched Ebola virus vaccination trials in Uganda.
The last time Uganda survived outbreak of the disease at the end of 2022. 55 of the 143 infected people died, including six medical workers.
Ebola hemorrhagic fever is transmitted through contact with infected body fluids and tissues. Symptoms include headache, vomiting of blood, muscle pain, and bleeding.
