Scammers began to use the unsubscribe button in an email for their own purposes — clicking on it can lead to a phishing site. This was announced on Sunday, March 2, by Sergey Kuzmenko, head of the Roskachestvo Digital Expertise Center.

So, according to him, to stop receiving mailing messages, you need to click on the link. In most cases, it is safe, but sometimes it can lead to a phishing resource.

"The unsubscribe button, which is part of the standard interface of the mail service, is usually safe. However, if scammers forged an email and embedded their button in it, then this is definitely a danger to the user," the expert said in an interview Lenta.Ru .

At the same time, according to the specialist, mail services are doing everything possible to protect users, including scanning attachments and filtering links. However, no resource is capable of providing full protection, Kuzmenko noted.

Earlier, on February 28, Vladimir Ulyanov, head of the Zecurion analytical center, reported that fraudsters can disguise their emails as mailing lists of stores to gain access to personal information of Russians. He stressed that it is necessary to carefully consider all messages, not only from strangers, but also from familiar senders.
