The State Duma has developed a bill on mandatory compensation for employees for using personal equipment at work. This was announced on Sunday, March 2, by TASS with a link to the document.

"It is proposed to supplement [the article of the Labor Code] with a provision according to which employers will be required to indicate in the employment contract the amount and procedure for compensation of an employee's expenses when using personal equipment, if this is required for the performance of official duties," the explanatory note to the draft law says.

The document was developed by Yaroslav Nilov, head of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs (LDPR). According to him, many employees are currently incurring additional losses due to the cost of paying for the Internet, depreciation of devices, purchase of programs and licenses.

Nilov noted that the compensation system would ensure that such an additional financial burden on employees would be eliminated. In addition, his initiative is aimed at a fair approach and the stabilization of labor legislation.

Earlier, on February 17, Alexander Yuzhalin, head of the legal practice at SuperJob, told Izvestia that indexing href="https://iz.ru/1839251/2025-02-17/urist-predupredil-kompanii-ob-otvetstvennosti-za-otkaz-ot-indeksacii-zarplat"> wages are an obligation of all employers, without exception, established by art. 134 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the absence of indexation may serve as a basis for holding the employer liable under Part 1 of Article 5.27 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation.
