Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei recalled his words on March 1, 2022, about the futility of relying on Western support. He made the corresponding statement on March 1 after a verbal altercation in the White House between the Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky and the president USA Donald Trump.

"The first lesson from the situation in Ukraine is that Western states' support for countries and governments that are their puppets is a mirage. All governments should understand this. Those governments that rely on the United States and Europe, let them look at the current situation in Ukraine," he wrote on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

During the meeting between Trump and Zelensky in the Oval Office on February 28, a verbal altercation took place. The US president blamed the Ukrainian leader in a disrespectful attitude towards Washington. According to him, the head of the Kiev regime is "playing with the Third World War", the lives of millions of people and is not ready to resolve the conflict.

US Vice Prime Minister Jay D. Vance, who was present at the talks, also criticized Zelensky. After the skirmish, the Ukrainian leader left the White House ahead of schedule.
