IFAB announced changes in football rules starting next season

Starting next season, the rule on the allowed time for a goalkeeper to hold the ball will change to eight seconds. This was announced on March 1 by the press service of the International Council of Football Associations (IFAB).
It is specified that if the goalkeeper violates this rule, a corner kick will be assigned at his gate.
According to the council, this rule has already been tested in action and its results have been recognized as successful. The innovation is designed to prevent goalkeepers from delaying the match.
Previously, goalkeepers could hold the ball for six seconds, and if the rule was violated, a free kick was awarded.
In March 2024, The Daily Telegraph reported that the pain would be it is forbidden to serve balls to football players after outs during English Premier League (Premier League) matches. The ban is intended to prevent cases when the ballboys of the receiving team delayed the delivery of the ball to the opponents and thus could affect the result. Sometimes this led to scandalous incidents.
