Ovechkin reduced the gap from Gretzky to 10 goals in the match against Tampa Bay

Russian striker and captain of the Washington Capitals hockey club Alexander Ovechkin scored a goal in the National Hockey League (NHL) regular season home game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, thereby reducing the gap from Canadian Wayne Gretzky to 10 goals.

However, Ovechkin's puck in the 57th minute did not help Washington to win. The game ended with a score of 1:3 in favor of the guests. Forwards Mitchell Chaffee (18th minute), Gage Goncalves (47th) and Brandon Hagel (60th) scored for Tampa Bay.
