"Only thanks to the actions of the Russian side, thanks to representatives of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and thanks to representatives of our side, which also works at the Zaporizhia NPP, and representatives of the Russian security sector, it was possible to rotate the IAEA staff, and the next, 27th mission was able to start work." Litvinenko said.
She clarified that despite all requests from the IAEA, Ukraine continues to fire on territories near the nuclear power plant. In her opinion, the international community understands that Russia is open to dialogue, unlike the Ukrainian side.
In addition, Igor Semenovsky, Associate Professor of the Department of International and Public Law at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, noted in a conversation with Izvestia that Russia's cooperation with the IAEA goes in different directions.
He clarified that Russia has an interest in cooperation with the nuclear energy agency. According to him, the organization is working with Russian representatives in different regions, including the Zaporizhia region, despite the difficult situation.
"And the Ukrainian side did everything possible to prevent these experts from entering the territory, including from the Russian Federation," Semenovsky said.
The expert noted that after this exchange, the Atomic Energy Agency should recognize the full control of the Russian Federation over the nuclear power plant and that it is Russia that is able to ensure the safety and successful operation of the plant.
He added that thanks to the assistance of the Russian Federation, the nuclear power plant is still functioning, despite the ongoing shelling by militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Zaporizhia region.
On the same day, it was reported that at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant The rotation of the IAEA inspectors took place, their route passed through the territory of the Russian Federation for the first time.
On February 18, the IAEA expressed the hope that the rotation of experts at the NPP will take place in the coming days. The planned rotation of experts was supposed to take place on February 5, but was postponed to February 12. It didn't take place that day either.
