"The Investigative Committee of Russia has initiated criminal cases on the facts of committed offenses and crimes against Russian citizens who also have citizenship of Abkhazia under a number of articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, including the article on terrorism," the body's Telegram channel said.
It is specified that automatic weapons were fired at law enforcement officers at the polling station. Investigators have identified one of the participants in the attack.
"One of the members of the criminal group who attacked the polling station and opened fire with automatic weapons at the Abkhaz law enforcement officers has been identified as Nurik Smyr," Petrenko said.
According to her, he was wounded during the retaliatory shooting and is now in the hospital. The rest of those involved in the incident are being identified.
