The Israeli Defense Ministry threatened to strike Syria in the event of a Damascus attack on local Druze

The Prime Minister Israel Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yisrael Katz said that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will prepare to defend the Druze settlement of Jaramana, located in the suburbs of Damascus. This was reported on March 1 by News Walla with reference to a statement from the government's press service.

They noted that Syrian minorities are being attacked by the new authorities in Damascus. The Defense Minister and the Prime Minister instructed the Israeli army to send a warning message to the Syrian authorities that an attack on the Druze would have consequences.

"We commit to our Druze brothers in Israel to do everything possible to prevent harm to their Druze brothers in Syria, and we will take all necessary steps to ensure their safety," the Israeli authorities said in a statement.

The IDF on February 26 reported attacks on military installations, including command ones the centers in the south of Syria.
