Voting in the second round of presidential elections has ended in Abkhazia

Polling stations for voting in the second round of the presidential elections in Abkhazia completed their work at 20:00 Moscow time on March 1. The Central Election Commission (CEC) of the republic has begun counting votes.

According to the chairman of the Central Election Commission of Abkhazia Dmitry Marshan, the voter turnout by the time the polling stations closed at 20:00 Moscow time was about 70%, almost 100 thousand people voted.

The CEC of Abkhazia will announce the preliminary results of the vote on March 2.

Two polling stations were also opened in Cherkessk and Moscow. Many Abkhazians in Russia come to the Russian capital from other cities specifically to vote. Observers who are working on the second round of the March 1 elections said that the process organized transparently.
