On March 1, the Yaroslavl Region hosted the Russian Hunting Biathlon Championship, which was attended by 33 teams from 27 regions of the country.

"The championship has been held for the sixth time and has received the status of an All—Russian one since this year," Mikhail Evraev, the governor of the region, is quoted as saying on the official site.

It is specified that the length of the ski slope was 3 km. Ten athletes participated in each race. They used smoothbore hunting weapons in the competition. The results of three shots hitting the target were taken into account.

According to Dmitry Yuzupchuk, a correspondent for Izvestia, the distance to the targets is 50 m and the athletes face the task of hitting exactly the bull's-eye. If a miss occurs, the athlete will be given another 1.5 minutes to try.

As part of the competition, a fair of local artisans and regional products, an exhibition of military equipment, as well as a hunter course for the younger generation were organized.

According to the results of the championship, Ivan Milyutin from the Samara region won the first place in the individual competition. In the team competition, the national team of the Kostroma region was recognized as the best.

Earlier, on January 23, biathlete Karim Khalili won the individual 20 km race at the Russian Championship, which was held in Demino, Yaroslavl region. He was able to cover the distance in 52 minutes and 22.2 seconds, while making one miss on four lines.
