Rescuers found in the mountains of Sochi the body of a skier who skied outside the equipped trails and disappeared during an avalanche on February 24. This was announced on March 1 by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.

"The deceased was found with the help of an avalanche device. The man was almost at the bottom edge of the avalanche, under a 2.5-meter thick layer of snow," the department's Telegram channel says.

It is noted that his body was lifted into a helicopter of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations using an on-board winch.

The avalanche occurred on the afternoon of February 24 on the southern slope of Aibga outside the equipped trails of the Rosa Khutor resort. The press service of the resort clarified that there were three riders in the danger zone. Rescuers found two snowboarders, they were taken to the doctors of the Rosa Khutor ski resort, they did not receive serious injuries.

On February 25, the search for the missing skier was suspended due to the continued high avalanche danger. Their resumed only on March 1.
