Al-Nasr Football Club (FC) asked to postpone the match of the 1/8 finals of the Asian Champions League from Iran due to fears for the life of striker Cristiano Ronaldo. This was reported on February 28 by the newspaper Daily Mail.

It is specified that FC sent a letter to Esteghlal football club, in which he asked for the game to be moved to a neutral field, but the request was rejected by the Asian Football Confederation. As a result, the match, as it should have been, will take place on March 3 at the stadium in Tehran, which holds more than 78 thousand spectators.

The publication writes that the reason for everything was the match in 2023 against the Iranian Persepolis — the game then ended with a score of 2:0. It was noted that the fans then broke into the hotel where Ronaldo's team was staying. The police had to step in. As a result, that match was played with empty stands.

Earlier, on February 13, it became known that Cristiano Ronaldo became for the second year in a row href="https://iz.ru/1838605/2025-02-13/krishtianu-ronaldu-stal-samym-vysokooplachivaemym-sportsmenom-v-2024-godu " target="_blank">the highest paid athlete in the world. It was noted that the European champion in the Portuguese national team earned $260 million in 2024.
