Rescuers have resumed the search for a skier who skied outside the equipped trails in the mountains of Sochi and disappeared in an avalanche on February 24. This was announced on Saturday, March 1, by the Southern Regional Search and Rescue Squad The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.

It is noted that the skier disappeared on the slope of Mount Aigbi.

"It was impossible to search for the missing person for several days, as there was a high avalanche danger in the area of the incident," the agency noted on the Telegram channel.

The Russian Emergencies Ministry said that rescuers had deployed two avalanche observers, while the rest of the eight-person group landed further down the slope, where they began searching.

In addition, it is noted that the terrain is constantly changing due to small avalanches.

The avalanche occurred on the afternoon of February 24 on the southern slope of Aibga outside the equipped trails of the Rosa Khutor resort. The press service of the resort clarified that there were three riders in the danger zone. Rescuers found two snowboarders, they were taken to the doctors of the Rosa Khutor ski resort, they did not receive serious injuries. The fate of the third is unknown.
