YouTube is still unavailable in Russia.


Specialists from the Center for Monitoring and Management of Public Communications Networks (CMU SSOP), subordinate to Roskomnadzor, checked access to YouTube in the Russian Federation, the press service of Roskomnadzor reported on March 1.
Earlier that day, media reports appeared that YouTube had been activated in Russia by some users.
"CMU SSOP checked the availability of the YouTube service. The service is not available in Russia," Roskomnadzor said in a statement.
On August 1, Russian users reported a malfunction on YouTube— one of the most popular video hosting sites in the world.
Earlier, on December 19, 2024, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin during the "Results of the Year" stressed that YouTube video hosting and Google Corporation should not "abuse the Network" and They are obliged to comply with the legislation of the Russian Federation. The Head of State drew attention to the fact that people often start searching for cultural or music content on video hosting, and the search engine offers them something that is propaganda and has nothing to do with the query.
