An untrue message has spread on Telegram channels and social networks about the alleged creation by the former head of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation of the Traffic police resource, where information about tax evasion and fines can be found. This was announced on February 28 by the Department for the Organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The ministry clarified that a message with a photo of a man in uniform, who is allegedly represented by the retired head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, was distributed on the network. According to the publication, he allegedly decided to create a Telegram channel where he shares "tips" on circumventing 99% of fines. The department clarified that this is a phishing newsletter.

"The character is, of course, fictional, and the links will launch a series of subscriptions to fraudulent channels that lure out personal data, spread fake information and advertise scam projects," the Interior Ministry said.

The press service of the UBK of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia reported on February 26 about a new phishing site, through which, on behalf of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), false lawyers promise to return funds to victims of fraudsters. According to the agency, cybercriminals distribute links to a fake website in chat rooms or forums, while promising false compensation for money.
