Crimean and Krasnodar winemakers won 14 gold medals at the prestigious competition in Israel featuring Italian and French wines.

The victory at the competition showed that Russian wines are appreciated abroad, despite Western sanctions against domestic winemakers. Drinks from Russia have taken a strong place among the world's wine brands.

The success of the Crimean brands is particularly noteworthy, as it clearly demonstrates the revival of the peninsula's wine industry over the past 10 years. If under the Ukrainian authorities there were constantly voices about the imminent demise of wine production in In Crimea, the industry giants are now actively modernizing factories, planting new vines and increasing production volumes.

"All large enterprises are investing very actively now. Inkerman [wine] factory — investments of about 5 billion rubles. This is an unprecedented investment even for large industrial projects," said Mikhail Razvozhaev, Governor of Sevastopol.

Earlier, on February 25, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation announced that in January 2025, the volume of production of still and sparkling wines in Russia increased by 18% compared to the same period in 2024. It was specified that 2.24 million dal of still wines were produced during this period, which is 16.5% more, and 1.1 million dal of sparkling wines, an increase of 23.4%.
