The Government of the Russian Federation has submitted to the State Duma (State Duma) a bill on granting the status of a combat veteran to Russian servicemen operating in the Kursk region. The document was registered in Duma electronic database on February 28.

The proposed amendments to the law "On Veterans" will make it possible to assign the status of a veteran and a disabled combatant to military personnel and law enforcement officers who performed tasks during the repulse of an invasion of Russian territory, as well as during an armed provocation at the state border and in regions adjacent to the zone of a special military operation.

"Due to the dynamics of its implementation, the authority to determine the list of territories It is proposed to provide the Government of the Russian Federation with the territories adjacent to the CBR areas," the explanatory note to the draft says.

The accompanying document also notes that the adoption of the amendments will increase the level of social protection for military personnel and employees of law enforcement agencies.

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced plans to extend the status of a combat veteran to the military in the Kursk region on February 27. He pointed out that the government should consider the amendments as soon as possible.
