The state traffic inspectorate will conduct "continuous checks" of drivers

On the last Friday of February and the first weekend of March, traffic police officers will conduct massive and "continuous checks" on the roads, special attention will be paid to the search for drunk drivers. The raids were announced by the regional departments of the State Traffic Inspectorate.
Raids and preventive measures will be carried out on the roads of the Chelyabinsk Region, the Tver Region, the Penza Region, the Kirov Region, the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, as well as the Samara Region, the Altai Republic, the Ryazan Region, the Ulyanovsk Region, the Primorsky Territory and other regions of the country.
On the eve of the weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate reminds drivers about the inadmissibility of driving while intoxicated. Mass checks on Russian roads to identify drivers who have got behind the wheel after drinking alcohol are carried out regularly on weekends by traffic police.
"When you see that a drunk person gets behind the wheel, behaves inappropriately, creates dangerous situations on the road, do not remain indifferent — report this to the police. Employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate will definitely take all necessary measures to respond to such reports," Police Colonel Anton Belan, deputy head of the propaganda department of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry, told Izvestia.
He recalled that driving under the influence of alcohol is extremely dangerous and unacceptable in itself. And in conditions of icy conditions and insufficient visibility, driving drunk does not leave even the slightest chance of a successful trip and endangers the lives of surrounding road users, Belan stressed.
The day before, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a government meeting that it was planned to begin evaluating the quality of education in Russian driving schools href="https://iz.ru/1846073/2025-02-27/kachestvo-avtoshkol-nachnut-otcenivat-po-chislu-dtp-u-vypusknikov " target="_blank">including the number of accidents among their graduates. According to him, driving schools must take into account a number of mandatory requirements, and for this the Cabinet of Ministers proposes to adjust the current legislation.
