A resident of Angarsk was sentenced to eight years in a penal colony for murdering her mother.

The murder occurred on June 13, 2024, in an apartment in block 92/93. The court found that a 40-year-old woman strangled her 57-year-old mother with a pillow while she was sleeping on the couch. The victim died at the scene.

The woman decided to kill on the basis of personal hostility caused by the need to take care of a relative who could not move independently due to her existing diseases, the IA IrkutskMedia.

The court found the Angarchan woman guilty under paragraph "b" of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder of a person who is obviously helpless for the perpetrator") and sentenced her to eight years in prison to be served in a general regime colony with restriction of liberty for one year.

During the investigation, the defendant was under house arrest. She pleaded guilty to the crime.
