Serbia increased purchases of Russian gas during the winter period. On February 28, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Vulin told Izvestia.

"Of course, we are already increasing gas supplies during the winter. We have achieved an increase in gas supplies. Gazprom allowed us to do this. We consider this very important for our economy," he said.

At the same time, as Vulin noted, there is no deadline for signing a new agreement.

"We are having a dialogue about this. Russia is our excellent and very reliable partner, and I would even say our friend, because the price we pay for gas is much lower than what is available on the open market," the politician added.

Earlier, on February 7, Vulin noted that Belgrade expects in the near future href="https://iz.ru/1835236/2025-02-07/serbia-vyrazila-nadezdu-na-skoreisee-prodlenie-kontrakta-s-gazpromom " target="_blank">extend the contract with Gazprom. The current gas contract expires in March 2025, and the parties are currently negotiating a new three-year agreement until 2028.
