The information that a microloan was issued to French actor Gerard Depardieu in Russia is not true. This was announced on February 28 by the artist's agent Arnaud Frillet.

He noted that there is no evidence of fraud and it is unclear who became the source of this information.

"His relations with Russia are excellent. He loves Russia, he visits Russia," Depardieu's agent said.

According to Frille, the actor intends to visit Novosibirsk in the near future.

In addition, the agent commented on the situation with the contribution to the Union of Cinematographers. He noted that the actor was invited to join the organization, but now he is required to make a financial contribution.

On February 24, it was reported that Depardieu became a defendant in a criminal case on tax fraud. The actor is accused of tax evasion and money laundering on an especially large scale. In addition, Depardieu is suspected of fictitious residence in Belgium since 2013.
