Tricolor, Russia's largest pay-TV operator, has analyzed viewer preferences for 2024. This is evidenced on February 28 by the company's press release provided to Izvestia.

According to the study, the serial genre of programs is the leader among Russians, the figure was 49%, despite the shortage of Hollywood content. The popularity of the genre is also confirmed by an increase in the share of thematic channels by 5%.

Entertainment and educational programs are in second place in the rating with 31% of viewing. News and public topics, in turn, gained 12%. After that, the rating was supplemented by children's content (6%) and sports content (2%).

The study indicates a decrease in the share of watching all-Russian federal TV channels in 2024, and the figure has decreased by 4% since 2022. At the same time, Rossiya, NTV, Channel One, REN TV and Channel Five are named the leaders among the channels.

It is noted that TV series with a predominance of domestic content occupied most of the top 30. In particular, its popularity is noted among Soviet films with a patriotic bent. It is specified that this is due to the audience, which traditionally consists of viewers over 45 years old.

At the same time, Cheburashka became the most popular film on federal channels, and Gentlemen of Fortune on thematic channels. In turn, Nevsky received the status of the main series of 2024.

The trend for Turkish—made TV series has remained, the most popular of which are the premieres of Tricolor, "Don't Let Go of My Hand" and "Two Faces of Istanbul", shown on the Romantic channel.

Among information and socio-political programs, the broadcast of the Victory Day military parade and the New Year's address by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

Among the entertainment talk shows, viewers preferred the programs "Malakhov" on Rossiya 1 and "Male/Female" on Channel One, high viewing rates were recorded for the music shows "Songs from the bottom of my Heart" and "Blue Bird" on Rossiya 1.

In addition, among the programs of the humorous genre, the project "Full House" on the Rossiya 1 TV channel is popular among Russians, and "One Hundred to One" on the same TV channel was highly appreciated in the gaming segment. The audience also highly appreciates the "Battle of Psychics" program on TNT as a special subgenre.
