A criminal case has been opened in Novy Urengoy (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District) after a construction worker fell into an elevator shaft. This was announced by the District Court of the Investigative Committee of Russia on Friday, February 28.

"According to the investigation, in December 2024, at a construction site, an employee of a commercial organization stepped on a technological hole — an elevator shaft, closed with a piece of foam and dusted with snow," the report says.

The man fell from a height of 4 m and received various injuries, which were later classified as causing serious harm to health. A criminal case has been opened under Part 1 of Article 216 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of safety rules during construction or other work, if this negligently caused serious harm to human health").
