Rospotrebnadzor reported the absence of risks of the spread of smallpox in the Russian Federation

There is no risk of monkey pox spreading in Russia. This was announced by Rospotrebnadzor on February 28.

"There are no risks of the spread of this disease in the Russian Federation. Rospotrebnadzor continues to monitor the epidemiological situation of monkeypox in the world," says the publications on the website.

The corresponding statement was made in connection with the decision of the World Health Organization (WHO) to maintain the emergency status amid the spread of the disease in the world.

It is clarified that in Africa, only 21% of all cases of suspected infection with the virus have been confirmed. Rospotrebnadzor added that the Russian side will also continue to provide support to African countries to counter infections, including monkeypox.

In addition, by the end of 2025, the agency plans to transfer 2 million tesov to Africa for the detection of the disease and six mobile laboratories, as well as to ensure the joint study of infectious agents.
