The German fatigue index from sanctions against Russia has reached the "ceiling"

Among low-income respondents, the index reached 9.7 points, which is an increase of 0.2 points compared to December, among entrepreneurs the index was 8.7 with an increase of 0.3 points, and among youth and pensioners — 9.2 and 8, respectively. Among civil servants, the indicator was 7.2, with an increase of 0.4 points.
The German society's fatigue index regarding sanctions is based on data from an anonymous online survey conducted every two months.
This year, in addition to the traditional questions about the quality of life of the population, a new question was asked for the first time: "Should Germany reconsider its sanctions policy against Russia and China, taking into account the actions of the president USA Donald Trump, which he conducts, focusing on his own national interests?». As a result, 37% of respondents supported the initiative, 25% opposed it, and another 38% refused to comment.
According to the movement, the continued growth of the German fatigue index has become a consequence of the ongoing stagnation in the economy. Also, the abandonment of Russian energy resources has caused damage to the industrial sector of Germany. In addition, the German economy is facing rising unemployment, which in early 2025 reached a record level of 6.4% over the past 10 years.
Parliamentary elections were held in Germany on February 23, in which the CDU/CSU bloc won, gaining 28.6% of the vote. The second place was taken by the Alternative for Germany (AfD) with 20.8%, the Social Democratic Party of the current Chancellor Olaf Scholz took the third place with 16.4%.
At the same time, the Free Democratic Party (FDP) and the new Sarah Wagenknecht Union Party (SSV) did not enter the Bundestag. On February 24, Merz announced negotiations on forming a coalition with the Social Democratic Party.
