The Sevastopol government has adopted the city's design code. All new buildings must meet the requirements of this document. When developing the concept, the historical architectural concept of Sevastopol as a white-stone city was taken into account. All coloristic decisions should now be based on this principle.

According to Governor Mikhail Razvozzhaev, quoted by IA SevastopolMedia, design code is a set of tools that are necessary for the repair, construction and reconstruction of houses, buildings, landscaping elements and in the design of storefronts. All new facilities being built in Sevastopol must comply with it.

The document says that the existing buildings will be divided into 10 morphotypes, from pre-revolutionary restored buildings to public and business facilities of the post-Soviet period. 10 zones are also provided for future facilities. We are talking about historical, medium-rise, multi-storey, individual residential, and public areas.

The city's territory will be divided into districts, each with requirements for the appearance of buildings and the color scheme of landscaping elements. The latter should also correspond to their typological zone: from the core of the community center to the natural environment. This affects fences, outdoor furniture, playgrounds, sports grounds, and even trash cans. In addition, it has been determined how the storefronts should look and be illuminated.

If the design code is not followed or there is no approval from the arch council, the construction permit will be refused by the authorities, and if the facility has already been built or reconstructed, commissioning will be refused.

The design code was approved by the Architectural and Artistic Council in 2024. Now changes must be made to the rules of land use and development. Maps of the zones will appear on the portal of the state information system for urban planning activities.

The agency recalls that in February Sevastopol adopted a law on the general plan of the city. It was developed for a period of 20 years with the first stage of implementation until 2030. The document could not be approved for 10 years.
