Negotiations between representatives of Russia and The United States, which took place in Istanbul on February 27, was related to the work of the diplomatic missions of both countries in Moscow and Washington. The meetings of the parties will continue and should lead to concrete results. This was stated by Grigory Karasin, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, in an interview with Izvestia on February 28.
«[The establishment of bilateral diplomatic and purely professional relations between our embassies and consulates General in the two countries was discussed. And this is, in fact, the basis for concrete progress in absolutely understandable, substantive issues of bilateral relations, when our missions discuss and propose certain recipes or some solutions to difficult situations," the senator said.
He also stressed that the work on improving relations between Moscow and Washington should be fundamental, and this process has already begun. The progressive movement along more predictable tracks of cooperation between the states will continue, the source added.
