A resident of the Kherson region was arrested on suspicion of treason.

Employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Kherson region stopped the activities of a man involved in providing information to the Ukrainian special services. This was reported on February 28 in the press service of the UFSF of Russia for the region.

According to the investigation, in December 2023, the suspect used a foreign Internet messenger to transmit information about the deployment of Russian troops in the Kherson region to representatives of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

"The accused has been given a preventive measure in the form of detention. The man faces up to 20 years in prison," the report says.

Earlier, on February 21, the Federal Security Service prevented a series of sabotage in several regions. According to the FSB, eight Russian citizens who performed the tasks of the Ukrainian special services for minimal remuneration were sentenced to a penal colony for a period of 22 to 16 years.
