The media reported on the Ministry of Finance's plans to expand the scope of the patent for migrants

If the changes are adopted, foreign citizens will be able to use the same patent for employment as in In Moscow and the Moscow region, as well as in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region.

The Finance Ministry stressed that these amendments will help reduce costs for entrepreneurs and increase employee mobility. It is expected that the new rules may come into force on September 1.

On February 6, Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin announced preparation of a draft law related to the medical examination of foreigners who come to Russia. He noted that proposals are expected from the government that will regulate labor migration, as well as the entry of migrant workers' families into the territory of the Russian Federation.

December 30, 2024, the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin obliged illegal migrants to leave the country or legalize their stay in Russia before April 30, 2025.
