- A relative of the Russian soldier Bushuev declared the importance of burying his ashes in the Russian Federation

The great-nephew of a Russian soldier during the First World War, Yuri Bushuev, told Izvestia on February 28 about how he was informed about the remains of a relative of Alexander Bushuev found in France.
The great—nephew said that an investigator called him and explained that the remains of Alexander Mikhailovich Bushuev, his grandfather's brother, had been found in France.
"I believe that the ashes should be buried in the homeland. Where a man was born, that's where he should be buried. Everything related to relatives is always very important. These are native people, native blood," Bushuyev said.
He added that he had written a request to the President of Russia Vladimir Putin to help transfer the remains to his homeland.
Alexander Bushuev died in 1917 during the Nevelskaya Massacre, a positional battle of the First World War. Then the French troops, in whose expeditionary force Bushuyev served, went on the offensive against the Germans.
"Russian units were sent to France back in 1915. Russia fulfilled its allied duty... The Entente countries (the union of Russia, France and Britain. — Ed.) they helped each other with contingents. For the most part, Russia," historian Alexander Makushin told Izvestia.
Earlier, on February 26, French historian Pierre Malinowski told Izvestia that the French authorities should decide the fate of href="https://iz.ru/1845573/2025-02-26/istorik-zaiavil-ob-ozhidanii-razresheniia-parizha-na-peredachu-ostankov-russkogo-soldata " target="_blank">the remains of a soldier found in the country of the Russian Expeditionary Force during the First World War, whose descendant wants to bury them in Russia.
