The doctor told about the non-obvious symptoms of bowel cancer

According to the expert, with age, the likelihood of developing colorectal cancer increases. According to statistics, men are more susceptible to this disease than women. Lifestyle, prolonged exposure to carcinogenic substances, and genetic predisposition increase the risk of this type of cancer.
In most cases, intestinal cancer develops from polyps, but not all of them develop into malignant tumors. A characteristic feature of this cancer is the slow progression of the disease. Because of this, it can be asymptomatic for a long time, and the first signs may appear years later, so it is impossible to identify the pathology without a comprehensive examination.
"Colon cancer tumors in the early stages are accompanied by minor symptoms that do not bother cancer patients much, but nevertheless require attention. For example, if the neoplasm is located in the right intestine, patients often experience chronic weakness, fatigue and anemia, weight loss and periodic fever may occur," said Belkov.
At the same time, cancer formation in the left intestine causes constipation or diarrhea, abdominal pain, flatulence, intestinal obstruction, as well as bloody or purulent discharge during defecation, often accompanied by severe pain.
"Even if nothing bothers you, I strongly recommend undergoing a colonoscopy to prevent bowel cancer. This is the only method that allows detecting tumors and precancerous conditions at the earliest stages," the doctor emphasized.
According to Belkov, colonoscopy should be performed after the age of 45 once every 2-3 years, but if there are cases of this disease in the family, it is necessary to undergo this procedure from the age of 35. If suspicious formations are found, it is recommended to undergo the procedure annually.
On February 26, Andrei Nefedov, an oncologist of the highest qualification category, thoracic surgeon, spoke about the methods of detection lung cancer at an early stage. For this, it is necessary to undergo a medical examination using low-dose computed tomography (NDKT) screening. They can detect small tumors in the lungs, which allows them to be removed in time and effective treatment can be carried out.
