Msta-S self-propelled howitzers of the 1st Guards Tank Army of the Zapad group of forces in the area of the special military operation (SVO) destroyed the control center of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), camouflaged guns, dugouts and manpower of the Armed Forces Ukraine (APU). This was announced on February 28 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

After receiving the updated coordinates, the gunners aimed their guns at the targets and destroyed them. This was confirmed by the objective monitoring footage obtained from the UAV in real time, the department noted.

"We can get a goal at any moment. Today we had a UAV control room, tomorrow we might get a mortar. There are different goals every day. We helped the infantry when they went on the offensive, and they were hampered by the strong point where the machine gunner was sitting. We were tasked with destroying it. There was a clear hit in the machine gunner's nest, and our infantry successfully passed on and took up their new positions," said the gun commander with the call sign Kocha.

From the very beginning, the Msta-S self-propelled howitzers perform combat missions, such as defeating areas of concentration of manpower and equipment, command posts and observation posts, covering the actions of ground forces and conducting counter-battery warfare.

The gunners have been awarded military state and departmental awards more than once. During combat operations, military personnel pay great attention to disguising equipment and constantly monitor the airspace, the Russian Ministry of Defense noted.

On February 26, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that the calculations of the Msta-S self-propelled howitzers of the 25th combined arms army of the Zapad group of forces in the special operation area destroyed armored vehicles, crews of heavy-duty anti-tank grenade launchers SPG-9 and 120-millimeter mortars, as well as the manpower of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
