The death of American actor Gene Hackman and his wife, pianist Betsy Arakawa, seems suspicious to the authorities of Santa Fe County. This was reported on February 27 by the TV channel. href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/gene-hackman-wife-found-dead-investigation-santa-fe-sheriffs-rcna193960 " target="_blank">NBC News.

According to the TV channel, the investigative documents state that the death of the spouses is suspicious enough to conduct a thorough investigation.

"It's not normal to find two dead people in a house. And then there was the dog, which was also found dead. This is worrisome," said Sheriff Adan Mendoza.

The fire and gas department checked the house and found no signs of carbon monoxide leakage or poisoning.

"At this time, there are no signs or evidence indicating any problems related to the pipes," the warrant says.

The death of Hackman and his wife became known on February 27. The actor was 95 years old. Upon discovering the bodies on Wednesday, February 26, the police said that the death of the couple was not violent. On the same day the actor's family informed the media about their assumption that carbon monoxide poisoning could have been the cause of death.

Hackman's film career spanned more than 40 years, with more than 90 roles to his credit. He was especially known for his work in the films "The French Connection", "Bonnie and Clyde", "The FBI", "A Bridge too Far", "Mississippi on Fire", "Unforgiven", "Get Shorty", "Crimson Tide", "Behind Enemy lines", "Heartbreakers", "Family Tenenbaum." In 2003, Hackman was awarded the Golden Globe Award for his contribution to cinema. In 2004, the actor announced his retirement from cinema.
