The Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Marseille does not agree with the verdict of the court in the case of the attack

The Russian Consulate General absolutely disagrees with the decision of the Marseille court in the case of the attack of two Frenchmen on the diplomatic mission. This was announced on February 27 by the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Marseille, Stanislav Oransky.

"We absolutely disagree with this decision. <..."We are definitely not satisfied and outraged by the court's too lenient decision," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to him, the Russian side considers the incident as a terrorist act.

The court hearing on the case of the attackers of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Marseille took place on the afternoon of February 27. Two French citizens, aged 48 and 59, appeared before the court, the day before they pleaded guilty. The court sentenced them to eight months in prison with the possibility of serving their sentence under house arrest with an electronic bracelet, and they cannot own or carry weapons for five years.

The explosion in Marseille occurred on February 24. It was clarified that unknown persons threw three explosive bottles into the territory of the diplomatic mission, two of them exploded. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, noted that the explosions on the territory of the Consulate General were all signs of a terrorist attack. She demanded that France take prompt and comprehensive measures to investigate the incident.
