The expert spoke about the growing role of programming skills in a number of areas

With the development of modern technologies, programming skills are gradually becoming a universal skill for the financial sector, government agencies, marketing, law and engineering. Kirill Mokevnin, co-founder of the Hexlet online programming school, told Izvestia on February 28.

He said that programming skills are currently needed in the field of financial analytics, as modern financial systems are becoming more complex and the amount of data to process is growing.

"Knowledge of programming languages allows analysts to automate routine calculations, as well as develop complex models for forecasting and analyzing the market. Knowing the code helps financiers to speed up data processing and obtain more accurate forecasts for decision—making," the expert emphasized.

Programming is also useful in work in the field of housing and communal services (housing and communal services) and in government agencies. Various departments have implemented many reporting systems, which civil servants often cannot cope with and therefore resort to using the simplest bots to perform a number of routine tasks, explained Mokevnin.

He noted that marketers and advertising specialists, in turn, are just beginning to master coding. Analyzing data, using algorithms for personalized advertising campaigns, and predicting consumer behavior all require programming knowledge.

"For example, knowledge in SQL allows marketers to analyze user behavior with an accuracy that was previously unavailable. This helps to create more accurate marketing strategies and increase the effectiveness of advertising campaigns," said Mokevnin.

According to him, lawyers are not left out either. With the development of LegalTech and the introduction of automated systems for analyzing court decisions, knowledge of programming has become an important skill for legal professionals. Coding helps you process large amounts of data quickly, avoid mistakes, develop smart contracts, and improve legal analytics processes.

Architects often resort to programming, which increases the accuracy of design and helps automate routine tasks. For example, the development of digital models, the calculation of structures and the prediction of the behavior of buildings and structures require the use of coding languages such as Python or MATLAB, the expert emphasized.

"In 2025, programming is no longer the prerogative of only IT specialists and is becoming a universal skill for many professionals. This knowledge helps automate routine processes, analyze data and develop innovative solutions, which gives a significant advantage in any field," he said.
