On the initiative of the Bank Association, Sber implemented payment roaming when paying with a QR code, the credit institution reported on February 28.

All banks have the opportunity to pay for purchases through their own mobile applications using the Multi-QR platform, which is displayed on 2 million terminals in Russia. It is noted that the technology, along with the platform itself, will be transferred to the Bank Association after all legal issues are resolved.

Any bank can connect to the new one for free — the necessary improvements take about two to three weeks. When scanning MultiQR from the mobile application of credit institutions, users will be able to seamlessly pay for a purchase using the SBP.

"At the same time, the entire payment chain will remain "under the hood" and will not affect the payment experience for the consumer in any way — for him, the payment will follow the standard SBP payment scenario," the credit institution added.

According to Dmitry Malykh, senior Vice President and head of the Transactional Banking unit at Sber, currently various banks are unable to read the QR code of other banks, but this technology solves this problem.

Earlier, on February 7, it was reported that the Central Bank of the Russian Federation approved a new standard aimed at increasing security of operations with QR codes. The regulator noted that financial organizations and companies from other fields that use QR codes for payments and transfers will be able to develop internal protection measures based on this regulation.
