In Primorsky Krai, the investigation of a criminal case on negligence that led to the collapse of walls at a school in the village of Volno-Nadezhdinskoye has been completed. This was announced by the regional SU of the Investigative Committee of Russia on Thursday, February 27.
The person involved in the case is the head of the education department of the administration of the Nadezhdinsky municipal district. According to the Investigative Committee, the administration employee was aware of the condition of the school's cafeteria and gym, but "did not take measures to repair it immediately."
The materials of the case under Part 1.1 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Negligence entailing a significant violation of the legally protected interests of society and the state, causing particularly serious damage") were transferred to the district court for consideration on the merits.
The collapse occurred on May 30, 2024 at school No. 1 in the village of Volno-Nadezhdinsky, the building of which was built in 1962. The load-bearing walls, concrete floors and part of the facade of the building collapsed in the dining room. As a result, no one was injured, the news agency PrimaMedia. According to the prosecutor's office, the renovation of the school is still ongoing, while the children are studying in other educational institutions.
