Russians most often fall asleep on the Sokolnicheskaya line of the Moscow metro. This is evidenced by results of a study conducted by Zen and the Moscow Metro on Sleep Day in public places.

The option with the "red" branch was chosen by 20% of the respondents. The Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya line is in second place (18%), followed by the Serpukhovsko-Timiryazevskaya and Zamoskvoretskaya lines (15% each). The list also includes the Koltsevaya (13%) and Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya (11%) lines. 4% of Russians periodically fall asleep on the Bolshaya Koltsevaya Line, and 2% on the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya Line. Russians are least likely to sleep on Troitskaya, Kalininskaya and Nekrasovskaya lines — less than 2% of respondents sleep on them in total.

According to the survey, 41% of Russians fall asleep on the Moscow metro at least every third trip, 16% of respondents admitted that they take a nap on the subway every time they go somewhere, and another 12% admitted that they sleep on the subway at least half of the trips. 15% have fallen asleep on the train only a couple of times, and only 17% of Russians have never done so.

Passengers most often sleep from 10 to 20 minutes — 37% of respondents chose this answer. Slightly less (35%) said that they sleep in the subway from 20 to 40 minutes. Another 23% of Russians sleep for only a few minutes.

The majority of passengers (68%) said that they most often wake up during the trip themselves, another 13% of respondents noted that they are woken up by a mobile signal. At the same time, every tenth Russian is "deprived of sleep" by other passengers.

Analysts conducted an online panel survey in February 2025. The study involved 1,217 respondents.
