President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko raised the issue of an upcoming deal between USA and Ukraine on rare earth metals with the President of the Russian Federation By Vladimir Putin. He stated this in an interview with the American blogger Mario Naufalu on February 27.

"As for these rare earth materials, I raised the issue [in a conversation with Putin], I say: it's strange somehow - the Americans are demanding that Ukraine give them the most important thing they have. It's not just about rare earth materials in the United States. But we are talking about natural gas, oil, logistics, and so on," the agency quoted the Belarusian leader as saying. href="https://belta.by/president/view/lukashenko-prokommentiroval-predstojaschuju-sdelku-mezhdu-ssha-i-ukrainoj-po-redkozemelnym-metallam-699060-2025/ " target="_blank">BelTA.

Lukashenko added that he had outlined his position on this issue to Putin. In response, the Russian leader said that "the Americans are banging on the open door, everything is in Russia, we can negotiate and work with them."

In addition, according to the President of Belarus, Russia may be alarmed by the agreement between the United States and Ukraine if the Russian Federation considers that the agreements will overstep the boundaries of economic relations.

Earlier, on February 26, US President Donald Trump confirmed that Zelensky will arrive in Washington on February 28 to sign an agreement on natural resources. This statement was made after several days of tense negotiations between the United States and Ukraine, during which Zelensky claimed that the United States was pressuring him to sign a deal worth more than $500 billion that would force "10 generations" of Ukrainians to pay off debt.
