In her last word, blogger Elena Blinovskaya asked for a reprieve. This was announced on February 27 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

"Admitting guilt and repenting, I want to say one thing. The incriminated punishments relate not only to imprisonment. I ask that even in the case of the most severe punishment, Article 82 [of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation] ("Postponement of serving a sentence." — Ed.)," she said.

The blogger called children her main responsibility.
