The American film company Paramount is reviewing its approach to Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI) among its employees amid statements by the president USA Donald Trump. This was reported on February 26 by The New York Times.

Earlier, Trump signed a decree on the closure of all diversity and inclusivity programs. The decree states that the administration of former President Joe Biden "imposed illegal and immoral discrimination programs" called diversity, equality and Inclusivity (DEI).

"In a memo to employees obtained by The New York Times, Paramount's co—CEOs said they were making changes to the company's policy on DEI to comply with Trump's policy of eliminating diversity programs in government and the private sector," the material says.

The article notes that the policy of the American administration "requires changes to the company's approach to inclusivity in the future." The film company will also stop collecting gender and diversity data for many job applicants in the United States.

According to The New York Times, Paramount has already begun removing examples of DEI from its public statements. There is no longer any mention of this acronym on their page, and the company is removing the phrase from its annual financial statements.

"We are implementing DEI in all aspects of our employees' experience. Including special programs to enhance how we attract, develop, retain, and measure our progress," the page says.

Paramount's statement makes it the latest company to rethink its approach to DEI. Previously, major American companies, including Walmart and Disney, have already made similar changes to their diversity and inclusivity initiatives.

Earlier, on January 7, the largest fast food restaurant chain McDonald's decided to abandon the inclusive policy and abolished the "diversity targets" that previously applied to employees. The WSJ noted that McDonald's is the last major food industry company to change its approach to diversity policy.

On December 24, American entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk called for stop donating funds to the online encyclopedia Wikipedia because of its editorial policy based on inclusivity. The online resource reported that in 2023-2024 it spent more than $50 million of its total budget to support the policy of diversity and equality. Musk demanded that donations no longer be transferred to Wikipedia until it returns the balance of editing powers.
