The State Traffic Inspectorate urged motorists to observe traffic regulations and driving discipline. If there are child passengers in the cabin, it is necessary to be especially attentive and careful while driving, the department said. It is necessary not to create emergency situations, to abandon risky driving, overtaking and other dangerous maneuvers.
"Do not forget that it is necessary to transport children in compliance with all applicable safety measures. Always take into account the requirements of markings, road signs and traffic lights, and observe the permitted speed limit. Remember that not only your own life and health are in your hands, but also the lives of your passengers and other road users," Police Colonel Anton Belan, deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries at the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry, told Izvestia.
In addition, in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, due to the deterioration of weather conditions on the adjacent side, traffic along the federal highway A-161 Vladikavkaz —Nizhny Lars — border with the Republic of Georgia has been stopped since midnight. As of this morning, almost 2 thousand heavy-duty vehicles have accumulated in equipped parking lots, platforms and roadsides. The queue length immediately in front of the Verkhny Lars multi-vehicle checkpoint is 4 km.
The State Traffic Inspectorate recommended that motorists, when planning long-distance trips in this region, monitor the weather forecast and media information from traffic closures. In case of a negative forecast, strong wind and snowfall, you should temporarily refrain from using personal vehicles.
The day before, it was reported that the launch of an experiment to test the presence of CTP through traffic cameras postponed to June 30, 2025 instead of the originally planned date of March 1. During the approval of the project, questions arose that required additional coordination and time for the experiment to work correctly.
